COMPETENCY ASSESSMENT MATRIX
The Institute has been listening to the comments voiced by members about the BCA Accreditation process and in response to that we have spent the first half of 2008 re-evaluating the entire licensing programme.
As evolution and revolution are the cornerstones of improvement, we aim, as an Institute, to always improve our programmes to ensure that they meet your needs.
The fundamental change to the programme is the new competency assessment matrix, created by Beryl Oldham (North Shore City) and Rose McLaughlan (NZ Building Industry Training). These were developed to meet the needs of the BCA Accreditation process, to definitively and rigorously measure staff competency.
The Institute and the creators have decided to further refine the competency assessment matrix after having put it into practice. For this, consultation with the sector is welcome along with any and all feedback about the competency matrix and related documents. In particular, we would like your views concerning the new sub categories – please refer to the sub categories consultation document. We believe the sub categories more realistically reflect the types of building work done by many of the BCAs and will provide more flexibility.
If you have any comments please feel free to direct these to Beryl Oldham at beryl.oldham@northshorecity.govt.nz , by 3 October 2008.
Our intention is to have the new licensing format available in the New Year for those wishing to become licensed members.
